The Terramat® Heatmat is the world’s best known and best-selling terrarium or aquarium heating element and meets all the worldwide safety requirements that should be expected from this product. The Terramat Heatmat comply with the CE directives and the European Standard EN60335-1. Class II IP X4. Terramat® produces infrared heat with a long wavelength. This wavelength is invisible to the human eye and heats objects instead of the air. This way of heating is equal to the heating by the sun, it heats objects that come into the radiation but the air temperature remains much lower. Reptiles absorb this heat as in a natural environment. The Terramat® Heatmat gets warm but produces a pleasant warmth where the animal can lie under or on top. If used under normal conditions, the animal cannot get hurt.

Terramat® Heatmat can be used under many conditions without a thermostat. For animal species that feel comfortable at specially set temperatures and for species that absolutely cannot stand too high a temperature, a thermostat must be linked to the Heatmat. Even when in doubt, it is wise to connect a thermostat. Terramat® thermostats are specially made for this.

The Terramat® Heatmat gives and comfortable comfort warmth however there are animal species that need a higher temperature to feel good, for this there are elements available such as the Heatel Backing Plate. Always be well informed by an exotic animal expert who knows at what temperatures your animal feels good.

A number of important points that must be taken into account when using the Terramat® Heatmat:

When the Heatmat is placed under the terrarium, make sure that the substrate in the terrarium is not too thick. When the Heatmat is placed in the terrarium, the mat must be taped absolutely firmly to the floor or to the side. The animal must also be able to look for cold spots. The Terramat® Heatmat is easy to clean with a wet cloth. Do this regularly so that nothing sticks to the Heatmat so that the heat no longer comes through. Then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Thermostat:

These heat mats are supplied without a (built-in) thermostat. Because the heat mat emits a constant heat output, it is recommended to use it in combination with the thermostat.
Make sure the Heatmat does not take up more than half or a third of the terrarium surface – without a thermostat.
