Many animals, including many birds, reptiles and amphibians, need UV radiation to prevent health problems.
UV spiral lamps are available in different wattages and UV strengths. Choose a wattage lamp that best suits your animal and housing form. RepTech spiral lamps are available in 13, 20 and 26 Watt. The wattage determines how much light is produced and how far the UV radiation reaches from the lamp.
The percentage determines the UV strength that the lamp produces. 5% UV spiral lamps are suitable for use in almost all terrariums. 10% UV spiral lamps are suitable for use in terrariums with animals from desert areas.
To ensure that enough UV radiation reaches your animals, the lamp must be placed in the terrarium. UV radiation does not pass through ordinary glass.
To make the best use of the lamp, you can use a reflection cap.
Spiral lamps are not a heating source.
UV release reduced with aging of the lamp
After 6 months of normal use (8 to 12 hours a day) the UV intensity will decrease. After 12 months of use, the amount of UV is negligible. Replace UV spiral lamps on time.
Important
Never place the lamp near flammable objects.
Ensure adequate ventilation and do not cover the lamp.
If the lamp is not functioning properly, interrupt the power supply and replace the lamp immediately.
Never replace the lamp with the power supply on.
Spiral lamps contain small amounts of hazardous substances. These lamps may not be thrown with the waste, but must be returned to a waste depot. This can be done for free.
