The Arcadia D3 Mini Desert Compact Lamp 12% UVB is an energy-saving lamp or compact lamp that, in addition to visible light (7000 Kelvin), also emits ultraviolet radiation invisible to the human eye. The UV radiation present needs reptiles and (in limited sizes also) amphibians to stay healthy. The amount of UV radiation depends on the type of animal and the natural habitat.
The UVA light (30%) provides a natural-looking environment. The light ensures good recognition of conspecifics, other animals and food. The UVB (12%) samples present ensure an absorption of vitamin D3 in the body (via synthesis of the skin). D3 ensures that calcium is absorbed during digestion. By not exposing the animals to UVB radiation, a shortage of essential nutrients can arise and this leads to health problems in the longer term.
The Arcadia D3 Mini Desert Compact Lamp 12% UVB are equipped with a standard E27 connection and are therefore easy to install. In addition to the application in a fitting, there are also various luminaires available especially for the terrarium. These luminaires also increase UV radiation by beaming and reflecting the light.
To create natural lighting, we recommend combining this Arcadia D3 Mini Desert Compact Lamp 12% UVB with a heat spot. Energy-saving lamps hardly give off heat.
Lifetime
Arcadia D3 Mini Desert Compact Lamp 12% UVB have a long service life in emitting visible light. However, the release to UV storage is limited, so this lamp must be replaced every 7 to 12 months. Write the date with a marker on the lamp base to have better insight into when the lamp needs to be replaced.
