Lucky Reptile Desert Bedding is a ready-made soil mixture, which has been developed for dry terrariums. Contrary to long-standing opinions, only the smallest part of the earth’s drought regions consists of sand deserts and the few animals there live on clean sand, whereas many species avoid it. Desert Bedding, the natural soil in dry regions, was developed for these reptiles and this offers the animals the optimal conditions.
The high earth and clay presence makes it possible for the animals, as in nature, to build burrows and constructions. Many desert reptiles not only dig out these constructions as a hiding location, but often install them in places where residual moisture is still present. The light humidity cools and at the same time ensures that the animals themselves do not evaporate as much water. In addition, not a few reptiles in desert areas are able to absorb moisture through the skin. In the development of Desert Bedding, extra attention was paid to the substrate, which retains the humidity in depth even when the surface dries out.
Desert Bedding is supplied as a loose sieved soil mixture, so that it can be inserted into the terrarium as a loose protection. Alternatively, by adding water, the soil can be made denser, so that a grippy, stable and collapsible substrate is created. Mix Desert Bedding in a 4:1 ratio with water, leaving you with a mortar-like mass that allows you to create entire landscapes in the terrarium.
